ABOUT US
Nkiruka Drum and Dance Ensemble - based in New Orleans, is the brain child of Artistic Director, Tiffany Knighten Buddington. Nkiruka is an Igbo name from the country of Nigeria in West Africa. The name means "the best is yet to come" and "good fortune."
Tiffany had a vision of dancers of diverse dance backgrounds coming together to create an outlet where they could share their current knowledge of dance with each other and express not only traditional, but also new and modern works both freely and uninhibited. She truly believes that "there is more power in Unity".
Her vision came to life in June 2013, when she founded Nkiruka Drum and Dance Ensemble. Although the group is relatively new, it is comprised of dancers who have been in practice for many years. Diversity is our specialty, as we have dancers versed in genres such as Traditional African, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary African, Second Line, Samba and even Belly Dance!
MISSION:
To promote social and artistic integration, intellectualism and healthy lifestyles through dance and performing arts.
